Reading has always been a favorite activity of mine. My first memory of reading goes all the way back to Dick, Jane and Baby Sally. It may not have been a particularly riveting story line, but it was empowering. I realized, even then, that books could transport me to another time, another place, another reality. I could spend hours with a stack of Golden Books, Dr. Seuss-whatever was available and within my skills to devour with my eyes, my mind and heart.
And so it continued; I read everything I could get my hands on- fiction, biographies, history, magazines, cereal boxes, Readers Digest Condensed Books, National Geographic, encyclopedias- I was always bringing home stacks of library books from both school and public libraries.
I still read lots of books. I don't have the time to read as much as I did as a child, but I still love books. I will try to share this love from my point- of- view with anyone who is interested in reading about what I have read. This blog is dedicated to anyone who has ever spent a hot, summer afternoon on a porch swing or in a tree with a book. It is dedicated to anyone who built a fort out of sheets under the dining room table during a thunderstorm and read "The Tell-Tale Heart." It is dedicated to those of you who read To Kill A Mockingbird and had it change your life. It is dedicated to my friends who read Swiss Family Robinson by flashlight in bed and started a treehouse the next day. I understand your passion. I have done all these things and more in my lifetime love affair with books.
Read on, my friends, until next time!
